  • Moira Shiels MS, Resident

Moira Shiels is a Resident in Marriage and Family Therapy. Moira completed her Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy at Northwestern University. She is a member of the American Association of Marriage and Therapy. Moira provides counseling to individuals, couples, and families for a broad spectrum of issues including relationship concerns, intimacy and sexuality, gender identity, mood disturbances, communication, conflict management, life transitions, and family functioning. She has received specialized training in Human Sexuality as well as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.

Counseling Experience

Moira worked at The Family Institute at Northwestern University where she counseled individuals, couples, and families according to an integrative, systemic therapeutic perspective. She also completed a clinical internship with a specialized Dialectical Behavioral Therapy program housed at the same location, delivering the model in individual and group formats. Moira's approach to therapy is flexible, collaborative, and integrative, rooted in a family systems perspective. Her philosophy is based on the notions that relationships are a profound vehicle for healing and transformation, and that the capacity for growth and resilience resides in all.
